Prof. Dr. Alfred Pühler

Prof. Dr Alfred Pühler is a board member and spokesman at the Centre for Biotechnology CeBiTech at Bielefeld University. Alfred Pühler started by studying physics at Erlangen–Nuremberg University. In 1971 he obtained a PhD in microbiology, followed by a postdoctoral qualification in genetics in 1977. In 1979 Pühler was appointed Chair of Genetics at Bielefeld University, where he worked until 2008. In June 2009 this biologist and genetic researcher was awarded the German Order of Merit for his outstanding work as a scientist. Alfred Pühler, head of the Biotechnology topic network at acatech, spurned retirement and in October last year became Senior Research Professor at the Centre for Biotechnology at Bielefeld University (CeBiTec). CeBiTEc is the largest academic institute within the university. |
