Prof. Dr. Manfred Schwerin

Prof. Dr. Manfred Schwerin Prof. Dr Manfred Schwerin is Professor of Animal Breeding at the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Rostock University, and also Chairman of the Research Institute of the Biology of Agricultural Livestock in Dummersdorf near Rostock. The only Leibnitz Institute dedicated to Livestock Sciences, it has 300 members of staff and focuses on researching the functional biodiversity of livestock as an essential component of sustainable agriculture and human nutrition.

The molecular biologist Manfred Schwerin has been working in the field of molecular animal breeding for a year and a half. His internationally renowned publications have established him as an expert in the molecular genome analysis of livestock. He is Chairman of the Council of Agricultural Sciences for the Land of Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania, board member of BioCon Valley Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania e.V., member of the ‘Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Horticulture and Veterinary Medicine’ council of the DFG, and also sits on other national and international supervisory and advisory boards.
