The Council, which is unpaid for its work, draws up recommendations in conjunction with other scientific bodies. Intensive coordination with the Research Union, in particular, guarantees that the Council’s work is aligned with the aims and content of the German government’s high-tech strategy.

The BioEconomyCouncil also seeks to cooperate with other councils and scientific academies. The Union of Academies includes the government’s Scientific Advisory Council on Global Change (WGBU), the Council for Sustainable Development (RNE), the German Council of Environmental Advisors (SRU), the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, and the Berlin–Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (BBAW).
