Prof. Dr Alexander Jakob Boris Zehnder is Director of the Water Research Institute at the University of Alberta, Edmonton/Canada, and founder and Director of TripleZ GmbH. Alexander Zehnder studied natural sciences at ETH. Then he worked as an advisor at the World Heath Organisation (WHO) in Rabat, Morocco. In 1976 he completed his PhD at the Department of Natural Sciences at ETH, Zürich. After two years on the academic staff in the Department of Bacteriology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, he became Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Stanford University in Stanford, California. In 1982 he was appointed Professor of Microbiology at the Agricultural University in Wageningen, Holland, and headed the Institute of Microbiology there until his return to Switzerland. He was Director of EAWAG and Professor of Environmental Biotechnology at ETH Zürich. From July 2004 until the end of 2007 Alexander Zehnder was President of the ETH Council. |
