Dr. Andrea George

After studying agricultural biology at Hohenheim University, Dr Andrea George, awarded an OECD grant, undertook a six-month research visit at the Department of Microbiology at the University of Austin in Texas, USA. In 1996 she obtained her PhD from the Institute of Plant Nutrition at Hohenheim University on the regulation of adaptation mechanisms of wheat to iron and zinc shortages. Then she worked at the Centre for Environmental Protection of the town of Esslingen am Neckar.

After a number of extended visits to Australia, Andrea George joined the academic staff at the Humboldt University in Berlin, coordinating an EU project on the reconstruction of the Agricultural Faculty at Banda Aceh University following the tsunami. She moved to the Bio-economy Council in 2009. Within the office she chiefly deals with issues relating to land use.
